Litigation Support & Expert Testimony

Financial issues are central to many cases. Often a Financial Expert is required to perform calculations and then explain the concepts and calculations to the judge or jury. The following are examples of situations where a financial expert could be helpful.

  • Calculating the present value of lost wages - for a period of time or over a lifetime. Lost retirement benefits and other economic losses may also be included in the computation.
  • Consulting on Source of Funds Rule issues (Thomas v. Thomas).
  • Analysis of businesses to determine the true amount of income for purposes of paying support.
  • Calculating the premarital portion of a 401(k) or other accounts by determining the portion of the current balance which is attributable to passive market growth of the pre-marital funds.
  • Cash flow analysis regarding the need for alimony and/or the ability to pay alimony.
  • Assisting a divorcing client answer financial planning questions - will it be better to get the house or the retirement account? How much should I put down on another house? How will the divorce change retirement planning?
  • Calculating the Present Value of defined benefit pension plans.
  • Creative options to make cash flow stretch further and the long term ramification of debt division.
  • Creative, cost-effective, and tax advantageous methods of dividing retirement accounts and other assets.

Mr. Keim has performed all the above services for past clients. Call if you have other financial questions relating to your case.

FEES FOR EXPERT TESTIMONY are hourly. The size of the retainer requested depends upon the complexity of the case.
